BREAKING NEWS ZOOM FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY Aircraft seized in Calgary 28 AUG 2008: Travel Industry TODAY has learned that the aircraft leased by Zoom Airlines was impounded by the leaser in Calgary this morning. It is believed Zoom will initiate bankruptcy proceedings today.Hugh Boyle is the chair and principal shareholder of Zoom Airlines and the founder and chair of the Go Travel Direct, Canada’s first direct-sell tour operator. Both businesses have grown rapidly in the six years since inception. Zoom Airlines is a low cost carrier flying to Europe from number of Canadian locations. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are apparently offering special fares to assist Zoom customers that have been affected by the suspension of Zoom’s services.Both Zoom Airlines Inc and Zoom Airlines Ltd, the Canadian and U.K. airlines, are filing for insolvency proceedings in their home countries today.

Carnival News: As you are aware, Carnival Cruise Lines has undertaken an extensive stateroom recategorization effort with the Carnival Valor the first ship to be reclassified under the new system earlier this month. Effective Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, all staterooms on thier four other 110,000-ton Conquest-class ships – Carnival Conquest, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory and Carnival Liberty – will be reclassified. The balance of the Carnival fleet is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008. Blue Sky Tours prides themselves on including all taxes and fees. They have been notified by their car company, Dollar Rental Car that the Hawaii State Senate has passed a Bill stating that as of September 1, 2008 an additional $1 daily surcharge on all rental cars will be charged.
Dollar Rental Car will collect the $1/day surcharge at client check-in for the remainder of 2008. This is to finance the planning, design, and construction of consolidated rental car facilities at state airports.
For all packages departing in 2009 Blue Sky Tours will again include all taxes as this $1 charge will be added.
