SPECIAL EDITION - SkyMiles Integration Update
Tips for Travel Agents as WorldPerks Members Receive New SkyMiles Account Credentials

Guidance on Customer Profiles and New Bookings Using New 10-Digit SkyMiles Account Numbers

(October 2, 2009) - As part of the Northwest and Delta merger, on Oct 1, WorldPerks members are now a part of the SkyMiles program. WorldPerks members will receive their new SkyMiles numbers and credentials via email and direct mail. Notification will be staggered throughout the month of October, and upon receipt, members may begin using their new SkyMiles numbers immediately.

Members are encouraged to notify their dedicated travel agency as soon as they receive their new account information. This allows travel agents to begin entering the new 10-digit SkyMiles number when booking new reservations, as well as when updating customer profiles.

To assist with the transition, please refer to the Updating Customer Profiles, Existing Bookings and New Bookings sections below.

Updating Customer Profiles

Even though customers will begin receiving their new SkyMiles account numbers on October 1, distribution will be staggered and it may take some time for the SkyMiles members to relay their new account information to their travel agents.

Delta assures travel agents that there is ample time to update customer profiles.  However, once notified of the customer’s new 10-digit SkyMiles number, we recommend updating profiles to avoid any confusion or potential customer service concerns.

Existing Bookings

For existing bookings that include previous WorldPerks account numbers, no action is needed from the customer or their travel agents. Customers will still receive mileage credit and elite benefits, which will be transferred into the Delta SkyMiles program.

New Bookings

We have received confirmation from several GDS systems that the numeric change from a Northwest 9-to-12 digit number to a Delta 10-digit number will not affect GDS acceptance. To date confirmation has been received from the following GDS systems - Axess, Sabre, Infini, Abacus, Apollo, Galileo, Amadeus and Worldspan.

When booking a new reservation and the SkyMiles account number is known, please use the 10-digit SkyMiles number.

The SSR FQTV format for entering SkyMiles account numbers (for mileage credit) remains unchanged. Enter new SkyMiles number using the SSR FQTV format followed by DL 10-digit number and passenger name (last/first). See below example:

3SSRFQTVDLHK/DL0123456789-Smith/Robert

If the new 10-digit DL SkyMiles number is unknown, continue to add NW followed by the WorldPerks 9- or 12-digit number in the SSR FQTV entry:

3SSRFQTVDLHK/NW012345678912-Smith/Robert

Additional Reminders

The following reminders are also being communicated to previous Northwest WorldPerks members as they receive their new Delta SkyMiles account:

  • All Elite qualification miles, redeemable miles, elite and Million Air status have transitioned to the new SkyMiles account
  • Customers may begin using their new SkyMiles numbers for all new bookings and provide their new SkyMiles number to travel agents, hotel, car rental and all other partners
  • No action is needed from the customer or a travel agency on existing bookings that include previously entered WorldPerks account numbers. Customers will still receive mileage credit.
  • The customer’s WorldPerks PIN can be used to access their new SkyMiles account.
  • If, a customer already had a SkyMiles number, the two SkyMiles accounts may combined at www.delta.com/mergeaccounts.
  • Miles will not expire as long as the customer has qualifying flight or partner earning or redemption activity in their account at least once every 24 months.

Please send all comments and questions to sales@nwa.com.

I was instructed this a.m. by e-mail to come to this site in order to consolidate my previous WorldPerk NW Airlines miles with my new Delta Account (#6210758410). Here is my previous WorldPerks number (#NW100 203 359 550). There are only a few miles in this previous account, but I would like them added to my current account if this has not already been automatically done.
    Thank you, Anne Almgren
