Bula Everyone,
I thought I would send a personal review of my favorite resorts in Fiji, this is one of my favorite destinations, the people are the friendliest I have ever met, and it is such a beautiful destination with over 333 islands.
It is one of the most relaxing and tropical places I have ever been and so romantic, great for honeymooners and also great for families.
There are some great fares on Air Pacific from LAX, now is the time to go to Fiji. All About Fiiji has an excellent staff that is very knowledgable and friendly, call 1-800-274-8687 EXT. 5.
Fiji Time- While time does seem to slow down in Fiji and move at a more leisurely pace it is handy to know that Fiji is 20 hours ahead of Pacific Standard time, so far an example if its 2:00 on a Tuesday in Los Angeles- it’s 10:00 a.m. in Fiji on Wednesday.
Here is a little breakdown of some of the islands and what they offer:
Yasawa Group- Known for their amazing beaches, it is a secluded oasis and a special paradise, great for fishing too. One of my favorite resorts is the Yasawa Island Resort and Spa.
Mamanuca Group- Home to almost twenty island resorts, the Mamanuca Islands provide a range of accomodation and service experiences from simple yet comfortable incredibly secureand luxurious retreats. This is a very popular place for tourists.
The Northern Islands- Vanua Levu- This region is home to more than a dozen resorts which are easily accesible by air or local ferry. Most are small and intimate and offer the type of vacation difficult to find anywhere else in the world. Namale Resort& Spa, Koro Sun Resort, Jean Michel Cousteau.
Taveuni- Great Diving, it is also known as the Garden Island of Fiji, feels like you are in a Rainforest, one of my very favorite resorts is the Qamea Resort and Spa.
Southern Group-Known for their rugged coastlines, world class diving and surfing and home to Vatuele Island Resort which is spectacular.
Coral Coast-There are many activities to choose from on the Coral Coast, nature lovers will love the exotic birds and animals at Kula Bird Park, experience a traditional Fiji village. The Outrigger on the Lagoon is one of my favorite resorts and great for families, great to combine this with Castaway Resort in the Mamanucas.
NadI Area- This is Fiji’s airport town, this ia where you will hear your first Bula. Nadi is also the place where you will find the most visitor facilities and the greatest number of souvenier shops and restaurants.
Denarau Island- Is located just 20 minutes from Nadi and has some beautiful resorts to choose from, if your clients want to Golf this is where they will want to stay for a couple of nights.
Here are some of my personal reviews:
Mamanuca Group:
Castaway Island- Fantastic resort and wonderful for families, it has a spectacular beach with many motorized and non-motorized sports. They have many repeat guests, there are over 174 acres and it feels very spreadout. Their childrens program in complimentary and offers many fun activities for the kids. There are over sixty thatched roof bures, with a choice of ocean view, beachfront or island location. I recommend the oceanview or beachfront bure. There are many hammocks throughout the property, it truly is a place to go with your favorite book and relax.
Matamanoa Island Resort- Popular with the young honeymooners, fantastic beach and excellent service. This is a resort that offers an intimate and secluded feel, there are no children under 12 permitted. When selling this resort I highly recommend to upsale to the Beachfront Bures, it is worth it. They are decorated in fijian style with high ceilings lined with hand painted Tapa. The management here is excellent. Highly recommend for honeymooners that just want to get away from it all. Great snorkeling and water activities and Gorgeous beach.
Tokoriki Island Resort- One of my favorites!! Truly magical and so romantic, you definetely want to come her with your spouse or partner. Conde Nast Traveler magazine voted the “Friendliest People in the World”. At Tokoriki you will arrive as a visitor and leave as a friend. They offer 29 Deluxe Bures/ 5 Sunset Bures with pool, they also feature outdoor showers. I would describe this resort as being small and intimate and would only recommend for couples and honeymooners. I loved the rooms here, they are spacious and offer a lot of privacy, all rooms have 2 showers one inside and the other outside, air conditioning, King beds and refrigerators. Each bure also has their own hammock, there is one restaurant and one bar. They have their own wedding chapel on the hillside and it is just beautiful. There are many activities to choose from, snorkeling, windsurfing or just relaxing. Love it!! Great specials starting at $2371 ppdo. for 7 nights in Deluxe Beachfront Bure
Malolo Island Resort- Great for all, families and couples, this resort has a lot to offer, it is situated on a fabulous beach with many beach activities to choose from. They offer 2 swimming pools, one for the couples and the other for the kids, there is also a complimentary childrens program. Great spa with many procedures to choose from. There are 3 restaurants to choose from and they also offer themed nights which is a lot of fun. There are 49 duplex bures and they are not that private, they are decorated very simply but with fijian flare. It has more of a rustic feel to it, but I loved it and the staff was wonderful. Fun resort!! Families and couples will love it. Malolo is offering a 5 night Honeymoon plus FREE WEDDING valid for sale Sep.15, 2009 now travel November 1, 2009- March 21, 2010, prices start at $1179 ppdo. PLUS a $50 bonus commission for you!!
Likuliku Lagoon Resort- The only overwater resort in Fiji and it is amazing!! I saw it when it was just being built and it was stunning then, I can only imagine what it looks like today. Adults only and the best resort for a honeymoon, it is a 5 star resort, They offer 10 overwater bungalows and all feature air-conditioning, music systems, complimentary wireless internet, flat screen monitors and dvd players, they also offer beachfront bures. All meals are included with this property. Highly recommend, your clients will not be disappointed.
Vomo Island Resort- It is only a 35 minute flight from Nadi. There are 29 villas, 7 hillside and 22 beach villas that offer king/twin bedded rooms, make sure your clients bring mosquito repellent. I loved the atmosphere of this resort, it is very tropical and lush, I thought it was perfect for honeymooners and couples, they do welcome children all year round, but offer no childrens program. The Hillside villas were tucked back and very private, there are no TV’s. The beachfront bures were stunning, but not as private as the hillside bungalows, if I had a preference it would be the beachfront bures. This resort has also undergone a complete renovation. The service here was exceptional and the food was excellent. I also want to note that all rooms are air conditioned. Many activities to choose from, Snorkeling, helipcopter tours, deep sea game fishing. They also raise sea turtles. The resort is on 225 acres. Just a little tidbit for you, the famous model Elle Mcpherson stays here at Vomo. Your clients will love it!!
Northern Group of Islands:
Namale Resort & Spa- Out of this world, it truly is. Beautiful and luxurious. Accomodates 26 guests in 13 traditional bures it an all-inclusive resort, meals, beverages and sports, they even have their own bowling alley and baskeball court. The accomodations are out of this world, please take a look at their website and you will see just how beautiful it is. It sits on the edge of the KoroSea and is on 525 acres of paradise. Their Spa is amazing, it is over 10,000 square feet with gorgeous views. There are many activities to choose from when visiting Namale, explore Rain Forest, freshwater pools, diving, guided reef walks and many water sports to choose from as well.
This has to be one of the most spectacular resorts I have ever seen, a honeymoon couple would be in heaven. Highly recommend!

Koro Sun- Another day in paradise!! unfortunately, the resort had a fire last year and had to close, but will be re-opening this September with some great rates. Beautiful grounds, very lush and tropical and the best Rainforest Spa ever, it is about a 10 minute walk from the property, it will take your mind off of everything, you are literally in the rainforest, it is magical and they have some wonderful treatments. The rooms for the most part are across the street from the beach, they are now selling Villas that are spectacular. This is all-inclusive resort that also includes all non-motorized water sport activities. There are so many wonderful activities to choose from, they also have their own 9 hole golf course that is included. There are 2 swimming pools and one with a slide. This is a lovely resort with a lot to offer and a terrific value.

Jean Michel Cousteau Resort- Fabulous! great for couples and familes. Wonderful staff and management. The bures are lovely with beautiful fijian decor, they are set back and are very private, most are garden views and they offer one gorgeous Villa. This resort has been voted for many awards, it is a 5 star resort that sits on 17 acres of a coconut plantation. Trip Advisor also just voted it the #1 Worlds top Eco Resort. What I liked about this property is that it is great for everyone, they have a children’s program and pool across the way from the main resort, so the couples never really see the kids, they keep it very seperate. They also offer great dive packages. All gourmet meals are included. Great for any client, does not have the best beach.
Taveuni/Qamea:
Matangi Private Island- Loved it, very romantic and secluded, great setting. It was listed in the book “1,000 places to visit before you die”. This is the ultimate South Pacific island destination for honeymooners and couples, If I were to go another honeymoon, I would choose to go here, it is that beautiful. The staff is so friendly and the service is exceptional. The Bures are lovely and decorated in a traditional fijian design, they are very private and some of them are Treehouse Bures. Take a loot at their website, it is very impressive. They have many activities to choose from and gorgeous beaches. The island is on 240 acres, they can even arrange a private lunch on their horseshoe beach. Honeymooners and couples will love it!!! Very special place. Stay 5/ pay 4 from $2528 ppdo includes roundtrip air, ocean view bure, all meals included, snorkeling, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing. Valid for sale thru September 15, 2009- March 31, 2010.
Qamea Resort & Spa- Another favorite of mine! Very green and lush, tropical rainforest and gorgeous white sand beaches. The owners are very hands on and provide excellent service to the guests. The bures are absouletely stunning and offer privacy, many have outdoor showers. When I visited this island we went to a village and it was such a wonderful experience, it will warm your heart, friendliest people ever. Maravu means Calm and Tranquil, it is a perfect getaway, very peaceful and relaxing. Many activities offered such as horseback riding, mountain biking, kayaking, deep sea fishing etc…Bures are lovely and many with outdoor showers. Nice pool area and spa treatments available. Stay 5/ pay 4 Island Escape $2528 ppdo. includes roundtrip air/transfrers/all meals included/ocean view bure.
Yasawa Island Group- The most grogeous beaches I have ever seen.
Yasawa Isalnd Resort- One of my favorites! flying into Yasawa was umbelievable, you land on an dirt runaway, it was interesting to say the least, when you arrive the staff is there to greet you with a nice cold drink, cold washcloth and a flower lei. Wonderful service, love the owners Garth and Maggie, they go above and beyond for their guests. This is an All-Inclusive resort and the food is wonderful, they serve this amazing lobster salad, I did not want to leave this magical place. They offer 16 secluded one and two bedroom bures which feature outdoor showers, it is a 35 minute flight from Nadi. Their beachfront spa is phenomanal. Many activities to choose from, great place for diving and sport fishing. If you have clients that money is no object you must have them stay in the Honeymoon Suite, it is remarkable. LOVED IT!!!
Coral Coast-
Outrigger on the Lagoon- Great for familles and couples, very spreadout resort with many restaurants and amenities to choose from. Rooms are very modern, they offer hotel rooms and bures, if you can upsale I recommend the bures. The have a very large swimming pool., fitness center, golf training center, Bebe Spa and they also offer their own Fijian fire walking and show performed on site. Small beach in front of the property, this hotel has an americanized feel to it, but yet still very Fijian as far as the decor. Many wonderful activities in the Coral Coast to choose from. I highly recommend selling the Outrigger Fiji and then traveling to the Castaway Island for a few days, perfect for families.
Hideaway Resort- Very bright and colorful, excellent value and terrific staff. So many activities at this property, you can either be lazing around or be busy with activities. Honeymooners and families for this resort. Beach comes and goes depending on the season. They also offer nightlife, karaoke bar, polynesian shows, Disco etc.. Fun atmosphere. Rooms are simple but nicely decorated, some offer outdoor showers. The landscaping is beautiful, I met the gardener when I was here and he is so very proud of his work and should be, it is magnificent. They offer Beachfront Bures, Ocean View Bures, Two Bedroom Bures for the familes. Fun property.
Nadi Area- Most clients will fly into Nadi and stay 2 to 3 nights before traveling to other islands, there are many restaurants and shopping to choose from, also, they do offer several Golf Courses, great resorts to choose from.
Sonaisali Island Resort- What I liked about this resort, is that you are in the Nadi area but you have to take a boat to get to Sonaisali, you are 25 minutes from the airport and it is a stunning resort, very spreadout and spacious bures. There are 32 beachfront Hotel rooms, 3 Beachfront 2 Bedroom Family Bures, 42 Oceanview Bures and 46 Beachfront Spa Bures. Two restaurants to choose from, great pool area with a swim up pool bar and they now have a beach, this is new. They offer a wide variety of activities, village excursions, horseback riding, jet ski’s, sunset cruise, daily snorkeling trips and more. This is a great value!! Special is from $1845 ppdo includes roundtrip air, transfers, FREE Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, FREE Jungle Cruise and even more….
Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa- Stunning property, great pool and beach area. It is very luxurious but yet laid back, it is very modern but has Fijian flare. Great for any clientele. Wonderful spa and location is ideal. Many activities to choose from.
Sheraton Denarau Villas- Perfect for familes and clients looking for a condo, all have fully-equipped kitchens and they are beautifully decorated. They offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas. Many activities surround this property. Highly recommend….
