Letter from Carnival Jul 16

Dear Travel Agent Partners,

We would like to make you aware of some exciting enhancements to our Cruise Vacation Protection Plan, which now includes severe weather watch/warning protection as well as job loss protection.  The enhanced features apply to plan purchases made July 15, 2009 and after. These enhancements are designed to provide your clients with peace of mind that their vacation investment will be protected in the unlikely event of severe weather or job loss.

The severe weather watch/warning protection provides reimbursement in the event the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and/or National Weather Service issues or maintains a severe weather watch or warning within 48 hours of a cruise departure.  Should the watch or warning affect either the cruise departure city or the guest’s route to that city, the plan will allow for cancellation and reimbursement up to the full amount of the cruise cost.

Another new weather protection feature provides that if a guest is traveling to the cruise departure port via a common carrier (airplane, bus, train, etc.) and inclement weather ultimately causes the guest to miss 50 percent or more of the cruise vacation, the guest may receive reimbursement up to the total cost of the cruise.

The new job loss plan will provide reimbursement up to the total cruise cost if individuals who have booked a cruise and purchased the plan are subsequently terminated by their employer and have worked for that employer for at least one continuous year.

The above enhancements will further strengthen the current plan which offers a variety of other benefits, including trip cancellation/interruption, trip delay, emergency medical evacuation, medical, baggage loss and baggage delay. The program also provides a 24-hour emergency assistance hotline.

The plan must be purchased at least 14 days prior to the cruise departure date.  Prices begin at $49 per person and vary by cruise length.  For bookings made within 14 days of the sail date, the Cruise Vacation Protection Plan can be purchased at the time the booking is made.  The Cruise Vacation Protection Plan can be added to bookings via BookCCL.com, your GDS or by contacting Carnival Reservations.

We are confident these enhancements will provide you with a terrific tool to close the sale for clients wary of weather issues or job loss.  In addition, since the plan is commissionable at 10%, that means more commission earnings for you.  For additional information and pricing on Carnival’s Cruise Vacation Protection Plan, visit www.BookCCL.com.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES TO RESUME PORT CALLS IN MEXICO

MIAMI (May 15, 2009) – Carnival Cruise Lines will resume visits to Mexican ports of call based on the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, which is no longer recommending against non-essential travel to Mexico. Once all voyages with previously modified itineraries are completed, those vessels will revert to their original routes featuring stops in Mexico.  Most itineraries were modified through mid-June with the exception of the Holiday which was modified through late May. A ship-by-ship listing including dates for when each vessel will resume its original itinerary is available at http://www.carnival.com/cms/fun/cruise_control/itinerary_updates.aspx.

Cruise Lines on Mexico Travel Apr 30

MIAMI – Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line have suspended stops at Mexican ports over concerns about swine flu.

Carnival said on its Web site it has canceled all calls at Mexican ports through May 4, and in many cases will be able to substitute the canceled stop with an alternative port.

Royal Caribbean had said it was monitoring the situation but telling passengers not to worry because the outbreaks are inland, not in the Mexican coastal cities popular with cruise tourists. But later Tuesday the company said it was suspending port calls indefinitely in Mexico until more is known about the swine flu outbreak.
